Why I Love To Dance!
Friday, April 29th is 34th International Dance Day! It was introduced back in 1982 by the International Dance Council to celebrate and appreciate the different dance forms and bring more attention to the art of dance.
This is great because I love to dance! It’s the best feeling in the world, letting the music take over you, forget about your worries, just close your eyes and move.

The famous author, Vicki Baum once said, “There are shortcuts to happiness – dancing is one of them.” and I have to agree! I love to dance because not only is it a passion but also I see it as a way of expressing my body to the music. Dancing for me equals freedom, fun, love and passion!
These are my top reasons why I love dancing:
1. It makes me happy!
Dancing is one of the best feelings in the world for me as it makes me really happy. I love nothing more to pop in my headphones, put on a great beat (think Taylor Swift) and shake it to the music! Dancing can turn my mood around just like that! If I’m feeling overwhelmed, angry, upset or even down, dancing can turn that frown upside down. In fact, there are studies that prove dancing makes you less stressed and happier.
2. It’s a form of exercise
And it’s definitely one of the most enjoyable ways to exercise! Dancing has so many benefits such as assisting with weight loss, toning, increased stamina, increased flexibility, improved balance and most importantly a confidence booster. You can try it at your local gym or at a Zumba class…and get that blood pumping!
3. Different styles of dancing
Dancing is a great way to learn about other cultures. The Argentinean Tango is amazing and sensual, the Middle Eastern Belly Dance is fun and relaxed, and the Cuban Salsa is fun and flirty like me!
Dancing is a great way to immerse yourself in other cultures and provides a great opportunity to meet new people.
Overall, dancing is a fun activity everyone can participate in – no matter what age you are! There is no right and wrong. It’s a creative outlet to express yourself in a safe environment, increase self-esteem and confidence, keep healthy and most of all – have fun and be happy!
Why do you love dancing? How will you be celebrating International Dance Day?
