5 Fitness Activities To Get You Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Following the same exercise routine day after day is bound to get boring.
Today, I want to stress to you that working out doesn’t have to be boring though – it CAN be fun!
One of my favourite ways to keep things interesting and to stay motivated is to mix it up. There’s no better way to enjoy a workout than by getting out of your comfort zone and pushing yourself to the next level.
As Neale Donald Walsch said, “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.” So next time you want to workout – try something new!
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Dancing
One of the most entertaining ways to keep fit is through dancing. Not only is it a lot of fun and a social activity, but, it can also help to improve your aerobic fitness and endurance, achieve better coordination and flexibility and help you burn calories to lose weight. Think – Zumba, Ballet, Hip Hop and Salsa!
Obstacle Racing
Obstacle Racing events have taken charge around the world over the last few years. Most of these events are designed for all different fitness levels. Participants are encouraged to run, climb and jump through a variety of obstacles to challenge themselves. Most events involve some kind of mud pit, colour run or foam pit! Think – Tough Mudder, Spartan Race and Miss Muddy!
Standup Paddle Boarding
This is one for those of you who enjoy a bit of peace and quiet! Standup Paddle Boarding has many health benefits: it helps to improve your balance, reduces stress, improves endurance and helps improve your cardiovascular health. This activity is relatively easy for anyone to do – start off seated before moving to your knees, and then standing up.
Bush Walking
Heading outdoors is an instant mood booster for most people – so why not combine a love of the outdoors and exercise together? Take the chance to breathe in the fresh air and experience the freedom of the outdoors. Reap in the benefits of bushwalking, which include improving your cardiovascular system, working your muscles, strengthening your bones and joints and maintaining healthy blood pressure. Don’t forget to push yourself harder each time by choosing a tougher/longer track.
Trampolining
I’ve mentioned before that trampolining is one of the hottest trends right now. It’s the perfect way to let the inner child out and have a lot of fun while working out. It may be a little frightening at first but don’t be afraid to take the leap! Trampoline fitness allows you to build your core and tone muscles while enjoying a high intensity yet low impact exercise.
When was the last time you went out of your fitness comfort zone? What are you going to try next?
